How to be in this world? In conversation with AGF and Mary C

Partisan of the electronic music scene AGF and sound producer and activist Mary C have long fought for more open, friendly and respectful forms of music production. A few years ago, after persistent spamming, I got AGF to come to Brno to give a performative lecture in the former PRAHA space. I still remember how, because of the Lufthansa strike, I booked the most complicated matrix of train connections from Cologne to Brno. I told Mary C: “Hey, look who’s around so maybe you can do something together?” This was how they met. We all came together again later when AGF accepted my invitation to oversee the studio of a visiting artist at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Here we shared, during the COVID lockdown, our ideas and thoughts on how to function as artists more justly, sensitively and fairly in our dealings among ourselves and with others. Now they’re heading on a joint tour, which includes a stop at LOM in Bratislava. We spoke together about the realities of the Eastern European scene, as well as collectiveness, listening, voicing, activism and the importance of spending time together.
