Position opening at FFA BUT: Network Administrator of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology
The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA BUT) hereby announces a selection process for the position of Head of Information Technology Office and Network Administrator at the FFA BUT. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE, negotiable) with a start date to be agreed upon.
Job Description
- Management of technical and software resources (hardware and software), particularly workstations on the MS Windows platform, and to a lesser extent, Apple Mac OS;
- Basic management of the faculty’s computer network and servers;
- Methodical and technical support for students and staff in ICT matters;
- Following training, management and installation of operational software specific to BUT/Faculty of Fine Arts;
- Occasional minor repairs and maintenance of hardware, typical of a network administrator’s duties.
Requirements
- Minimum of a secondary education with a school-leaving examination;
- Excellent knowledge of the MS Windows environment;
- Willingness to gain deeper familiarity with the Apple Mac OS environment;
- Administrator-level knowledge of Linux;
- Independence and time flexibility;
- Proactive approach to problem-solving;
- Communication skills;
- Willingness to continue professional development in ICT;
- Good command of the Czech language at a communicative level and proficiency in English for reading technical documentation;
- High moral integrity.
Advantages
- Administrator-level knowledge of Windows Server operating systems;
- Experience and expertise with large computer networks (802.1q, optical connectivity);
- Administrator-level knowledge of Linux OS on servers (SMB, Docker, LVM, KVM, iSCSI, NFS...);
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, SMTP, DHCP, DNS, SSH protocol management;
- Knowledge of network device management (ProVision, Comware, RouterOS…) at the Layer 2 level – VLAN 802.1q;
- Familiarity with WiFi-related technologies (802.11ac/ax – Layer 3, 802.1x);
- Basic programming knowledge (e.g., PHP, Perl);
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS;
- Experience in the educational sector.
