Position opening at FFA BUT: Assistant Prof. at the Department of Art History and Theory (20th-Century Art and Performance); app. deadline 15 May 2026
The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA BUT), with its registered office at Údolní 244/53, Brno, Czech Rep., announces a selection procedure for 1 academic staff position (at the level corresponding to Assistant Professor under Czech academic regulations) at 0.5 FTE: Assistant Professor at the Department of Art History and Theory, with an expected start date at the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year (September 2026).
Job Description
- Teaching courses in the field of art history and theory with a focus on the second half of the 20th century and performance art in the Fine Art study programmes,
- Providing feedback to students, including supervision and opposition of bachelor’s and master’s theses,
- Participating in doctoral thesis consultations within the Research in Art and Design programme,
- Involvement in departmental activities such as organising state examinations, supervising master’s written theses, and managing final thesis documentation, among others,
- Participation in research activities of the faculty.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in the field of art or a related field of humanities,
- Fluent in spoken and written Czech and English,
- Publication and/or curatorial activity related to the focus of teaching,
- Teaching skills,
- Moral integrity.
