The Research Centre (CEV) is a department of the faculty, established with the aim of expanding research capacity in the field of art and design and deepening the faculty's cooperation with practice and other research organisations. It proceeds from the conviction that art and design are autonomous ways of knowing, and therefore supports projects in which academic research meets artistic research and living creative practice. The Research Centre is an organisational unit and a cost centre for applied and basic research projects that are not carried out in other departments of the faculty, or that have an interdisciplinary character. The Centre provides research teams with professional and organisational oversight, while administrative and methodological support for the preparation of grant applications and the implementation of projects is provided, in close cooperation with the Centre, by the faculty's Project Support Office. The Centre's projects are funded both from national grant schemes and through contract research for external partners in the cultural, healthcare and heritage sectors. The Centre's activities also include the registration and documentation of the faculty's research outputs, among other things through the faculty's Research Catalogue portal. In addition to the staff members of the projects being carried out, researchers of the faculty's Post-doc and Post-mag programmes are also affiliated with the Centre; these programmes support the entry of recent doctoral and master's graduates into the professional research and artistic environment. At the level of inter-institutional cooperation, the faculty develops through the Centre its involvement in the TAH (Centre for Innovations in Technology, Art and Humanities) network, which brings together nearly thirty Czech research organisations with the aim of connecting the cultural and creative industries with technology, the humanities and the social sciences.
