FFA SUMMER SCHOOLS 2026: Summer School of Chine-Collé – applications until 20 July 2026
FFA Summer Schools offer an opportunity to spend part of your summer creatively. Through these summer schools, you will learn about artistic techniques, develop your creative skills, and meet interesting people. FFA Summer Schools are open to the general public, beginners with an interest in and passion for art, as well as those interested in future study at art schools, who can familiarize themselves with the FFA environment and use the summer schools as part of their preparation for entrance exams.
CHINE-COLLÉ SUMMER SCHOOL: When one sheet of paper is not enough
The Summer School is intended for the general public interested in printmaking techniques and experimental approaches to printing. It offers a comprehensive introduction to the graphic process with a focus on the chine-collé technique, which expands traditional printmaking with new expressive possibilities. Participants will learn to work with delicate, often transparent papers that are glued onto a stronger support during printing, allowing detail, colour, and material texture to be combined in a single composition. They will become familiar with the technical aspects of the method, including the properties of papers such as Japanese washi and the use of traditional starch-based adhesives. The course is practice-oriented—from initial design and preparation of the printing matrix to final execution—and provides space for experimentation as well as the development of an individual visual language. The aim is to create a dialogue between experimentation and structured printmaking processes. Participants will leave the workshop not only with their own prints, but above all with practical skills and inspiration.

Lecturer profile:
Pavel Kytner is a visual artist focusing primarily on drawing and printmaking techniques. His work explores a minimalist reduction of form on the boundary between realistic depiction and abstract image. He is long-term concerned with the relationship between natural and artificial environments and how these structures shape visual and emotional experience. These themes appear both in drawing and in intaglio printmaking techniques such as line etching and aquatint. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Graphic Arts Studio I), has completed a residency in Venice and residencies in France, and has received several awards in the Graphic of the Year competition.
