Star System / FFA Graduate Works 2026, opening 24 June 2026 16:00
The starry skies above us thinly flicker with myriad tiny glowing points consisting of the reduced signals emitted by distant, fiery giants. Each one emits a message about its unique character in the form of a light ray, like a lonely lighthouse. And so do people – every one of us – comprise singular assemblages composed of unique combinations of experience, opinions, memories, ideas and wishes. Each person is a cosmos unto its own, and just like stars we – some more than others – like to send messages about our individual uniqueness which others can then receive. But never forget, human – you, much like the stars, will never find your place all on your own. Everything holds together in an energy field invisible to the human eye, one that connects us to everyone else.

FFA invites the public to its annual graduate exhibition, which this year presents the work of 39 master's graduates from 17 fine art and design studios. In addition to the exhibition’s traditional venue, the House of the Lords of Kunštát, graduate projects will also be on display at the newly opened BUT Market Hall Centre (Centrum VUT Tržnice). The exhibition is further complemented by works presented at TIC Gallery and Špilberk Castle. The exhibition opening will take place on 24 June at 4:00 PM at the House of the Lords of Kunštát. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 26 July.
Curators Šimon Kadlčák and Tereza Vinklárková approach this year’s graduate exhibition as a unique constellation of artistic personalities. According to them, the exhibition captures a moment when, after years of study, independent artistic voices emerge and set out on their own trajectories. Alongside the remarkable diversity of themes, media, and approaches, the exhibition also reveals subtle connections, shared interests, and common values that arise between individual works.
For this year’s edition, a distinctive navigation system has been developed based on six metaphorical elements. These connect works across media and thematic categories, allowing visitors to discover unexpected relationships between individual projects. “While preparing the exhibition, we sought a way to capture the diversity of the graduate projects without reducing it to disciplinary or media-based categories. The elements function as metaphors for the shared moods, themes, and forces that emerge between individual works. It is only through their mutual resonance that a whole is formed – a stellar system,” explain the curators.
