FFA SUMMER SCHOOLS 2026: Summer School of Analog Photography, applications due by June 22, 2026
FFA Summer Schools offer an opportunity to spend part of your summer creatively. Through these summer schools, you will learn about artistic techniques, develop your creative skills, and meet interesting people. FFA Summer Schools are open to the general public, beginners with an interest in and passion for art, as well as those interested in future study at art schools, who can familiarize themselves with the FFA environment and use the summer schools as part of their preparation for entrance exams.
The summer school is open to the general adult public and offers a practical introduction to black-and-white analog photography, specifically using the Mamiya RZ67 camera. Participants will become familiar with operating a medium-format camera, the principles of exposure, and the subsequent chemical processes of developing and digitization. The course also includes working with a Sekonic light meter, including an introduction to basic exposure metering techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to try large-format photography using Sinar X and Intrepid 4×5 cameras. In addition to developing black-and-white film, they will also explore darkroom printing and the digitization of negatives.

Duration: 20 teaching hours, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including a lunch break

Fee: CZK 4,500 to be paid to bank account 111043273/0300, variable symbol 2602015 (please include “FaVU/fotografie” and your name in the payment note)
The fee includes all materials and art supplies.

Instructor Profile
Polina Davydenko is an interdisciplinary artist. She lives and works in Brno, where she is also affiliated with the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology, from which she graduated. She frequently spends time in Ukraine for both professional and personal reasons. Her work takes many forms, including photography connected to her interest in documentary practices and artistic research, as well as installations linking visual and object fragments into political, ecological, social, and more-than-human commentaries. In her current work, influenced by her Ukrainian roots, she explores themes of war and everyday life during wartime, connecting them with earlier themes such as home, migration, acceptance, individuality, and gardening. She presents political phenomena through personal storytelling and poetic language. She has exhibited at Fotograf Gallery, Moravian Gallery, and Gallery TIC.
Required Participant Knowledge
Participants should have a basic understanding of photography and manual camera operation. They should also understand the principles of light and the settings of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO sensitivity. Owning an analogue camera is not required.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend the summer school, you may arrange a substitute participant. If you cancel up to 14 days before the start of the summer school (according to the individual course start dates), the organizer will charge a cancellation fee of 20% of the total paid amount. In the case of later cancellation, the paid fees are non-refundable. The organizer reserves the right to cancel any summer school course in the event of insufficient participant enrollment for a given session. If the course is cancelled by the organizer, the paid amount will be refunded in full.
