Position opening at FFA BUT: Postdoctoral Fellow for Researchers, app. deadline 9 June 2024

The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA BUT) is pleased to announce a selection procedure for the Post-doc position at the FFA BUT, tailored specifically for researchers. This initiative aims to facilitate the integration of recent doctoral graduates into professional life while fostering the development of research and innovative activities within the faculty and involves creating short-term positions for postdoctoral researchers, which are filled through annual competitions.

The current call for researchers is inviting applications for one part-time position, available for one or two semesters of the academic year (September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025, or September 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025). Eligible applicants are graduates of doctoral studies who will undertake projects aligned with the research activities of a chosen department at the FFA BUT (please refer to the FFA Organigram). The collaborative nature of the project with the selected department should be evident in the application and endorsed by at least one faculty member from the respective department.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be graduates of doctoral studies, with up to three years since completion. This timeframe excludes periods of maternity and parental leave, illness exceeding 90 days, or caregiving responsibilities for dependents as defined by the Social Services Act. It also excludes time spent on long-term study abroad, with a maximum gap of five years between graduation and application submission in such cases.

Job Description

Successful candidate will actively participate in the research activities of the faculty, collaborating closely with the selected department to address the submitted project.

Application Requirements

  1. Detailed research project proposal (not exceeding 3 pages) including:
    • project title and topic description (including research question),
    • connection to the department's focus (see FFA Organigram),
    • timeline for project implementation,
    • description of spatial and material (and possibly other) conditions for project execution, including assurance of their provision,
    • expected scientific outputs (eligible for inclusion in the Czech Information Register of R&D Results).
  2. Recommendation from at least one faculty member of the relevant department.
  3. Structured CV with publication list and up-to-date contact information (address, telephone, email).
  4. Scanned copies of educational qualifications (university diploma).

We Offer

  • A supportive and stimulating environment at the FFA BUT, coupled with the solid foundation of a prestigious university institution.
  • Opportunities for further research and academic growth, embracing diverse pedagogical, research, and creative approaches.
  • Part-time employment (0.5 FTE), with salary in accordance with BUT's Remuneration Regulations.
  • Fixed-term contract, expected to commence from September 2024 (or as agreed upon).
  • Employee benefits, details available at https://www.favu.vut.cz/en/job-vacancies/why-work-at-ffa.
