Kees Tazelaar: Spatial Aspects of Electroacoustic Music Composition (lecture), 13 May 2019 13:00

Spatial Aspects of Electroacoustic Music Composition

The lecture will focus on spatial aspects within the composition of electronic music and will consist of two parts:

  1. Historical Perspectives (13:00 – 14:30)
  2. Compositional Approaches (15:00 – 16:30)

Kees Tazellar (1962) is the head of prestigious international institution, The Institute of Sonology, organized within the Haag Conservatoire. The institute was founded in 1960s and represents a high-profile educational, research, and artistic institution specializing on electro-acoustic music, composition, and sound in analog and digital environment.

Kees Tazellar’s electronic music is characterized by a combination of formalism, richness of sound, and compositional approach to sound spatialization.

As a historian, Kees Tazelaar specializes on the beginnings of electronic music in the Netherlands and Germany. He has been twice a visiting professor at the Technische Universität in Berlin, where he accomplished a PhD. In 2013 with a dissertation called ,On the Threshold of Beauty: Philips and the Origins of Electronic Music in the Netherlands.‘ Kees Tazelaar’s compositions are presented on an international-wide scale.
