Course curriculum
1. Developments in the institutional structure of art after the year 2000 - with emphasis on the issues of biennials, art fairs and their hybrids.
2. Development in the institutional structure of art in post-socialist countries after 2000 - selected organizations, institutions, personalities, events.
3. The "turns" proclaimed in the development of contemporary art in the second half of the first decade of this century ("social turn" and "educational turn").
4. "Archive impulse" and "historiographical turn". A shift from a general interest in the subject of memory and archives to specific issues in the history of modernity. N(O)stalgia and art from the countries of the former Eastern bloc.
5. After new media. Postinternet as a tendency, which in a specific way develops and builds on the older phase of Internet art, but also focuses on "external" impulses leading to a sharp rise and rapid decline in interest in this label, which apparently had to do with the economic crisis of the end of the last decade.
6. Return of the object. Courtship between object-oriented ontology / speculative realism / new materialism and contemporary art. The lecture will briefly introduce the mentioned philosophical tendencies and indicate their relation to object creation, which is one of the starting points of the post-Internet.
7. Art in the anthropocene. The increasingly unmissable fact of global warming and dramatic changes in ecosystems is provoking reactions not only in academia or in politics and diplomacy, but also in the visual arts. Distinctive personalities and projects will be presented, in the work of which the theme of the anthropocene or "capitalocene" plays an important role.
