Ivana Rumanová at the international symposium WARS in Munich
Ivana Rumanová, a post-doc researcher at FFA, is participating in the international symposium WARS in Munich, where artists, academics, and activists will meet to discuss the position of performative art in the era of the largest European war since World War II and in the context of the crisis of liberal democracy. The two-day forum explores the aesthetic, political, and ethical dimensions of performative practices and cultural situations of Europe in the context of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, which is strongly related to authoritarian tendencies in the democratic countries of Europe, like Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, where freedom of artistic expression faces attacks from the state government. On 29 January 2026, Ivana Rumanová will attend the discussion section "What do wars do with culture and arts?", where she will talk about the current situation and various forms of resistance together with other representatives of the artistic and cultural sphere.
