Call for Applications: Erasmus+ BIP – Reconnecting through Local Wool, deadline 28 Sep 2026

FFA BUT offers students the opportunity to participate in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Reconnecting through Local Wool”, organised by Fontys Academy of the Arts, Department Art Communication & Design in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

The programme focuses on exploring wool as a natural and sustainable material, its historical and cultural significance, and possibilities for its reuse in contemporary art and design. The programme has a strongly practical and experimental character. Students will work with wool in collaboration with a textile workshop and explore various techniques and processes for working with the material. The programme will also include a visit to a local flock of sheep. Participants will learn more about the role of sheep and wool in local culture, customs and traditions, and will explore how wool, which is currently losing its value, can be reused and made relevant to contemporary society and artistic practice.

Dates

Online component: 19 November 2026
On-site component: 30 November – 4 December 2026
Deadline for submitting the e-application at FFA BUT: 28 September 2026

Who is the programme for?

Students of FFA BUT from all study programmes may apply. However, the programme is intended primarily for students, whose artistic practice or studies involve working with wool, textiles, textile techniques, or similar materials.

Credits and recognition of the BIP

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will receive 3 ECTS credits. The completed workshop will be officially recorded in the student’s study plan. Both the online component on 19 November 2026 and the subsequent on-site component in Tilburg are compulsory parts of the programme.

Erasmus+ financial support

Participants will receive Erasmus+ financial support for short-term blended study mobilities (EUR 79/day + travel grant). The amount of the grant and the conditions for receiving it are subject to the current Erasmus+ programme rules. The financial support is intended primarily to cover costs associated with travel and the stay abroad.

How to apply?

Applications must be submitted electronically via StudIS: module “Study and internships abroad” → “Open call for Erasmus+ BIP: Reconnecting through Local Wool"

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • motivation letter, in which the applicant explains their interest in participating in the programme and its connection to their artistic practice or studies,
  • GDPR document.

Number of places: 3 students. Participants will be selected on the basis of their applications. Particular consideration will be given to the applicant’s motivation and the relevance of their artistic practice or field of study to the topic of the programme.
