FFA BUT to present the modular storage system FFA Lootbox at Designblok 2026
The Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology will take part in the 28th edition of Designblok, the largest design and fashion showcase in Central Europe, taking place from 6 to 11 October 2026. As part of the School Today exhibition section, the faculty will present the FFA Lootbox installation at the UMPRUM Technology Centre in Prague. The installation brings together the presentation needs of fine arts and design and explores how the ways in which the two fields are presented can complement each other. The FFA exhibition will present a prototype of a vertical arbor, which serves as the starting point for the design of a modular storage system. Its development was prompted by the ongoing renovation of the faculty, which has created a need to transport and exhibit artworks under a variety of spatial conditions. FFA Lootbox responds to this very specific need of the faculty. The arbor presents one possible solution for responding flexibly to the situation while also exploring how the presentation needs of fine arts and design can complement each other.
The arbor will house a diverse selection of artworks by FFA BUT students and alumni, showcasing the range of approaches and forms of contemporary artistic practice at the faculty while also demonstrating the possibilities of using modular furniture in a specific exhibition context. The field of fine arts will be represented by works by Štěpánka Adámková, Olga Staňková, Veronika Šavarová and Eva Jaroňová. Design will be represented by works by Aneta Kubatková and Terezie Krísová.
The installation will be part of the School Today exhibition format, which is expanding to the UMPRUM Technology Centre this year. The concept presents the work of art schools within the premises of one of them, making it possible to showcase current themes, approaches and working methods across different schools and fields side by side. Alongside FFA BUT, the exhibition will feature UMPRUM, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava together with Tomas Bata University in Zlín, and the Secondary School of Art and Design and Higher Vocational School Brno. The School Today section at the UMPRUM Technology Centre (Mikulandská 134/5, Prague) will be open to the public free of charge.
This year’s edition of Designblok will take place from 6 to 11 October 2026 under the central theme of Light, which will be reflected throughout the exhibition and curatorial programme. The preview will take place on 5 October from 4 pm.
