FFA SUMMER SCHOOLS 2026: Summer School of Sculpture – applications open until 6 July 2026
FFA Summer Schools offer an opportunity to spend part of your summer creatively. Through these summer schools, you will learn about artistic techniques, develop your creative skills, and meet interesting people. FFA Summer Schools are open to the general public, beginners with an interest in and passion for art, as well as those interested in future study at art schools, who can familiarize themselves with the FFA environment and use the summer schools as part of their preparation for entrance exams.
SUMMER SCHOOL OF SCULPTURE
The Summer School is intended for the general public with an interest in sculptural techniques and modelling. During the course, participants will become familiar with sculptural materials and the basics of modelling an anatomical portrait based on plaster busts. If interested, they may further develop and technically work on their own artistic projects. Participants who have not previously been trained in sculptural techniques will acquire fundamental habits and principles of artistic creation. For more advanced participants, the course offers space for developing individual skills with the possibility of professional guidance and consultation. The aim of the Summer School is to introduce participants to the basic techniques of sculpture, from designing and modelling their own project to its final realization. Participants will learn how to create a mould of a clay model and subsequently cast it in plaster. The outcome of the course will be a plaster cast of the created artwork.

Instructor profile:
Tomáš Zelený is a sculptor and educator. His journey into sculpture began at the Secondary School of Stonework and Sculpture in Hořice, where he first encountered stone as a creative medium. He then continued his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology, where, under the guidance of Prof. akad. soch. Michal Gabriel and his assistant Mgr. Tomáš Medek, he developed his artistic expression. Since then, sculpture has been his constant companion. He creates works inspired by nature and the world of dreams, seeking a balance between reality and imagination. His works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions, and some are permanently installed in public space, where they enter into dialogue with people and their surroundings. Alongside his artistic practice, he is also active in teaching—leading sculpture courses where he helps participants discover their own creative path and develop their talent.
