FFA SUMMER SCHOOLS 2026: Summer School of Filmmaking — Applications Open Until June 24, 2026

FaVU Summer Schools offer an opportunity to spend part of the summer creatively. As part of the summer schools, participants become acquainted with artistic practices, develop their creative skills, and meet inspiring personalities. FaVU Summer Schools are intended for the general public, beginners with an interest in and passion for art, as well as applicants considering future studies at art schools, who can become familiar with the FaVU environment and use the summer schools as part of their preparation for entrance examinations.

SUMMER SCHOOL OF FILMMAKING

The summer school is intended for anyone interested in film and audiovisual production. Participants will become familiar with the basic principles of filmmaking and experience the entire filmmaking process — from the initial idea to the final edit. During the summer school, participants will learn how to work with narration and storytelling principles, create both literary and technical scripts, tell stories through images and cinematic language, and work with film editing. The summer school can also serve as an introduction to studies at art schools focused on film and audiovisual production. Another goal of the course is to support creative and critical thinking, the ability to collaborate in teams, and the development of an individual artistic approach.

Instructor Profile

Daniel Nováček is a graduate of the Intermedia Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology, where he is currently continuing his doctoral studies and teaching courses focused on audiovisual production, storytelling, and creative writing. In his artistic practice, he deliberately works with narrative devices, cinematic language, and video installation. Through his own metaphorical language, he addresses current social issues in a way that enriches commonly accepted critical perspectives with an original psychological insight into the problem.

Required Participant Knowledge

Applicants do not need any previous specific knowledge or experience. For participation in the summer school, it is recommended to have a personal mobile phone equipped with a camera and video recording capability.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend the summer school, you may arrange a substitute participant. If you cancel up to 14 days before the start of the summer school (according to the individual course start dates), the organizer will charge a cancellation fee amounting to 20% of the total paid amount. In the case of later cancellation, the paid fees are non-refundable. The organizer reserves the right to cancel individual summer school courses in the event of insufficient enrollment for a given session. If the course is cancelled by the organizer, the paid amount will be refunded in full.
