Foreign Doctoral Internship

As part of their doctoral degree programme, students must fulfil one of the following international experience requirements:
- complete part of their studies at an institution abroad;
- participate in an international creative project whose outcomes are published or presented abroad;
- engage directly in international collaboration in another form.
Students undertake a research stay of at least one month at an institution abroad between the third and sixth semesters of their studies. The stay is subject to an application on which the supervisor provides a formal opinion. The total duration of research stays at institutions abroad may not exceed one year within the standard period of study. Any exceptions must be approved by the Doctoral Board.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The research stay is recognised upon completion of an official stay of at least one month at an institution abroad, for example through Erasmus+ study mobility, an Erasmus+ traineeship or the Freemover programme. Completion of the stay must be documented by official records, such as a Confirmation of Erasmus+ Study Period. Further information is available from the Faculty’s International Office.
An alternative means of fulfilling the research stay requirement may be approved by the Chair of the Doctoral Board upon application by the student.
Aims
The aim of a doctoral research stay abroad is to establish international professional contacts, gain experience in an international environment and develop language skills.
