Audiovisual Technologies Workshop 4

The workshop will enable students to explore selected tools and methods from the broad field of audiovisual media in detail by gaining insight into the practice of a prominent specialist in the field. Students will participate in activities prepared by the invited practitioner and discuss the challenges associated with the technology in the context of professional practice on the contemporary art scene.

This intensive encounter with a practitioner who has achieved an exceptional command of the medium and actively contributes to shaping contemporary art discourse aims to broaden students’ awareness of technological and material possibilities that they can subsequently apply in their own creative practice.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The Department of Audiovisual Technology organises practice-oriented workshops each semester. The programme typically comprises around ten workshops covering a diverse range of topics. To receive course credit, students enrolled in Workshop in A/V Technologies or Master’s Workshop in A/V Technologies must attend one of the workshops on offer. Attendance in person for the full duration of the selected workshop is required. The list of workshops and information about registration will be published before the beginning of the semester.

Aims

The aim is to enable students to become familiar with specific tools from the broad field of audiovisual technologies under specialist guidance. By completing the workshop, students will broaden their range of technical skills and deepen their knowledge of audiovisual technologies.

Syllabus

A lecture by an invited artist /designer, in which they introduce students to the use of a specific technology in their artistic practice
Practical exercises in the use of the technology, or another programme of joint activities directed by the invited personality.
Discussion of the challenges associated with working in a given medium and with professional practice in the contemporary art scene in general.
