Design History and Theory 4

The content of the course is the application of theoretical and historical knowledge to the practical implementation of a joint assignment. The assignment is the same for all male and female students, it will be changed every academic year. The course begins with a joint excursion to a museum/school/operation/production following a joint semester assignment. The course will also include a lecture by an extern according to a joint assignment and subsequent joint and individual consultations with the present design historians and studio heads.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

For passing the course there are the following conditions:

  • Active presence (90% attendance)
  • A successful defense of a practical work in front of a committee (teachers of the course).

 


Teaching takes place in the hours determined by the schedule. Active participation in excursions, lectures and joint consultations and workshops. One absence per semester is allowed.

Aims

The aim of the subject is the practical implementation of assignments following on from the History and Theory of Design courses 1 to 3. Students develop a critical attitude towards the discussed canon of history and theory of design in an applied context. In a broader framework, students learn to put into practice the acquired theoretical and historical knowledge.


By completing the course, students will strengthen their ability to think analytically, they will be able to lead an interdisciplinary dialogue and apply theoretical knowledge in critical practice.
