Course detail

Presentation and Documentation of Artistic Project

FaVU-1PDAPAcad. year: 2023/2024

The course prepares students to be able to successfully present their artworks and other original projects both in the context of their studies (in the Semester Projects Presentation course) and in actual artistic practice (in situations such as artist talks, interviews or media appearances, meeting with curators, gallerists, collectors, presentations for grant applications, or in public competitions for artistic realization). The skill set that the course focuses on includes adjusting and installing your work, taking photo documentation of your project, compiling captions and annotations, preparing an artist CV, completing a portfolio, formulating a short characterization of your own creative premises ("artist statement"), oral presentation to an audience, including a rhetorically persuasive (yet concise, factual and clear) delivering, and last but not least, responding quickly and accurately to audience comments. Practicing these skills will enable students to overcome shyness and uncertainty in situations where they have to present and defend their work. Teaching takes the form of practical exercises in small groups and peer feedback.
