Original Abstract
Jan Kotěra získal ještě za svého života přídomek „zakladatel moderní české architektury“ a na tomto vícevýznamovém základě byl po celé dvacáté století konstruován jeho mýtus, k němuž se vztahovali jeho současníci i autority pozdější bez ohledu na změny politických režimů: Kotěra představoval kultovní osobnost během první republiky, během Protektorátu Čechy a Morava i po převratu a nastoletí státního socialismu v roce 1948.
English abstract
Jan Kotěra acquired the nickname “the founder of modern Czech architecture” even before he died and the multiple-meaning basis was developed as a myth throughout the 20th century to which his contemporaries and authorities related regardless of the changes in political regimes: Kotěra represented a cult figure in the First Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as the coup and the rise of state socialism in 1948.
