Original Abstract

Film My Surrogate Self, Act II. is a collage-like recycling of found moving images that deconstruct the socially constructed image of women. She juxtaposes contemporary pop culture, its reflection on the moving surface of the endless flow of amateur home video stylization into its actors, but also its prefigurement in the form of stereotypes perpetuated by folkloric tradition. The result is a visually palatable and dense stimulant that encourages thinking about the cultural conditioning of our performance and the construction of our own public image.
