Erika Mészárosová: Women in SNP
28.8. – 14.9. 2025
curator: Petra Hanáková
Station Contemporary Art Gallery, ul. Gustáva Mallého 2, Bratislava
Artist Erika Mészárosová presents the exhibition Women in SNP, which highlights the stories of courageous women who took part in the Slovak National Uprising. The exhibition features a series of ephemeral memorials created by the artist between 2019 and 2024 as an artistic tribute to women whose heroism has often been overlooked by history.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a rich program of educational and creative activities. The artist has prepared guided tours, thematic walks tracing the footsteps of female partisans in Bratislava, creative workshops for children, youth, and seniors, as well as a musical performance Song of the Partisan Woman, inspired by partisan songs Silent Night, Dark Night. The lyrics were reworked and brought into a contemporary context by poet Viktória Citráková. Musical accompaniment: Štefan Szabó, Martin Nosál; vocals: the Palán sisters.
Erika Mészárosová also focuses on women in the Slovak National Uprising in her dissertation research at FFA.
