Exhibition Small, Completely Silent Changes, Moravian Library, opening 15 Oct 2025 18:00

Small, completely silent changes.
Artistic speculative research
16 October – 31 December, 2025
Opening: 15 October, 2025, 18:00
Moravian Library, Kounicova 65a, Brno

The project is a speculative exploration of the institution and space of the library as a model of the world with its current cultural, communicative, and power-related symptoms. Through commentary and interventions in this model, we seek to understand its nature and reflect on its transformations. We use the extensive book collection and its history, as well as scanners, barcode readers, and other technologies necessary for the operation of the library, but also flowers in window boxes that complement the interior of the building, and silverfish that live here hidden among the staff and readers. The project takes place in the Moravian Library and develops as an exhibition, a series of interventions, performances, and debates that enter the foyer, the landings, the courtyard, and the study rooms. The collective 𝑪𝒂𝒇𝒆́ 𝑼𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒂 (composed of Marika Kupková, Katarína Magid Hládeková, and Markéta Žáčková) works at the intersection of disciplines and generations: it connects the 𝐌𝐙𝐊 team with the artists, students, and educators of FFA BUT. The low-threshold environment of the library thus brings contemporary art closer to a wide audience and at the same time allows for critical thinking about the future of institutions that manage, mediate, and co-create collective memory.

The opening will feature a performance ❞𝑶𝒇𝒇-𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒂́𝒛̌𝒆❞ by Maja Štefančíková, featuring performances by Silvia Bakočková, Jakub Cerulík, Anja Naňová, Petra Noskaiová, Nela Rusková, Marta Poláková, Danny Takieddin, and Lukáš Zahy. The rest of the program will be published soon.

The event is organized by the Moravian Library and FFA BUT.

The project is realised with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Statutory City of Brno
