ABADIR: Melting | A Sound Workshop About Memory and Nostalgia, 12 May 2022 14:00

The FFA Department of Audiovisual Technology invites you to the 2nd workshop from the series Post Sound

ABADIR: Melting | A Sound Workshop About Memory and Nostalgia
when: 12. 5. 2022 14.00–18.00
where: U2/206 (sound studio)

During the workshop, producer and critic ABADIR (Rami Abadir) will focus on sonic narrative based on memory and nostalgia. The workshop is split into two parts. In the first part, he will introduce his latest project "Melting" and how he uses sound collage to build a sonic narrative revolving around the effect of late capitalism on collective and personal memory. In the second part, the students are going to work in groups of two to four to deliver a two minutes sound collage.

Requirements:
Every student is asked to prepare 5 to 10 .wav or .mp3 files consisting of sound materials, which are related to collective and personal memory. The sounds vary between, movies/songs snippets, ads, radio snippets, speeches, field recordings, news, TV programs, jingles, . . . etc. Their length can be between 2 to 30 seconds. Every group must have a laptop and a production software/DAW (FL Studio, Ableton, Logic,. . . etc.). The workshop is four hours long.

About:
AِBADIR (Rami Abadir) is a music producer and sound designer born in Cairo, Egypt. His work focuses on experimental, club, glitch and ambient music, and he's one half of the duo 0N4B. ABADIR is also the editor of the electronic music section of Ma3azef, where he also contributes as a writer.
Already done: Post Sound #1 – Oliver Torr, 28 Feb 2022.
