Information on the Elections

At its meeting on 30 January 2024, the Academic Senate of Brno University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "AS BUT") announced elections to the AS BUT for the term of office 6/2024 - 6/2027 and set the schedule for these elections.

Elections to the AS BUT are governed by the currently valid Election Rules of AS BUT (hereinafter referred to as "ER AS BUT") and the guidelines approved by the FFA Academic Senate on 20/3/2024.

Date and Place of the Elections

Elections to the AS BUT will be held from 23 April 2024, 00.00 AM, to 25 April 2024, 11.59 PM. The elections will be held electronically at: https://www.vut.cz/en/intra/elections.

For the purpose of the elections, two electoral divisions are established – the academic staff electoral division and the student electoral division. Each member of the FFA academic community may vote and stand as a candidate only in one and the same constituency to which he/she belongs.

Candidate Proposal

Any member of the division of academic staff may submit a candidate nomination for the election of representatives of the FFA in the Chamber of Academic Staff (KAP) of the AS BUT.

Any member of the division of students may submit a candidate nomination for the election of the FFA representative in the Student Chamber (SC) of the AS BUT.

The candidate's nomination must include:

• identification of the candidate (BUT personal number*), name and surname, titles;
• the candidate's affiliation to the electoral division;
• identification of the nominator (name and surname, titles);
• consent of the nominated candidate with the nomination;
• signatures of the nominator and the candidate.

Nominations of candidates are collected by Ms. Jana di Lenardo of the Dean's Office Secretariat as follows:

1. electronically to the following email address: dilenardo@favu.vut.cz by April 8, 2024, by 11:59 PM Scanned in PDF, JPG, etc., including the signatures of the nominator and candidate;
2. in person at the Dean's Office (building U2, Údolní 244/53, 602 00 Brno, 3rd floor, room 323) on working days from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. also by 8 April 2024.

*The BUT personal number can be found after logging in on the BUT web portal on the card of each employee or student.

Candidate Lists

Candidate list for the elections to the KAP AS BUT will contain the names of all nominated academic staff, each candidate will be indicated by his/her department.

The candidate list for the elections to the SK AS BUT will contain the names of all nominated students, each candidate will indicate the university institute or other part of the BUT, the study programme and the current year of study.

After the deadline for accepting nominations, the candidate lists will be published on the faculty's website through the AS BUT Office by 15 April 2024.

Election Statements

Each candidate on the lists has the right to issue an election statement. They must produce it in electronic form in PDF format and send it electronically or in printed form bearing their handwritten signature to the Chair of the Election Commission (tomas.hruza@vut.cz) no later than the day before the publication of the lists of candidates (i.e. on 14 April 2024). The Chairperson of the Election Committee will ensure that the election statements are published on the faculty’s website so that all voters can get acquainted with them; the printed and signed election statements will be handed over in unaltered form to the Secretary of the AS BUT for archiving. At the same time, the Election Committee will ensure that these statements are attached as a URL link to the candidate's name on the electronic ballot.

Elections to the AS BUT are managed by an election commission composed of MgA. Tomáš Hrůza (chairman of the commission); Mgr. et MgA. Barbora Lungová; MgA. Marie Štindlová; MgA. Petr Mucha; Bc. Jakub Matušek.

Information about AS BUT

Competencies of the Academic Senate of the University

• BUT Academic Senate approves the internal regulations of the BUT and its units, approves the budget of the BUT submitted by the Rector and controls the use of the financial resources of the BUT;
• approves the annual activity report and the annual management report of the BUT submitted by the Rector, approves the evaluation of the activities of the University submitted by the Rector;
• approve the Rector's proposal for the appointment and dismissal of members of the BUT Scientific Board;
• deliberate on the proposal for the appointment of the Rector, or propose his/her removal from office;
• approves the long-term plan of the educational and scientific, research, development, artistic or other creative activities of the BUT and its annual update, after discussion in the BUT Scientific Board;
• expresses its opinion in particular on the Rector's intention to appoint or dismiss Vice-Rectors, on legal acts that require the approval of the BUT Board of Trustees, and on suggestions and opinions of the BUT Board of Trustees.
• Performs other activities pursuant to the Higher Education Act as amended.
