Brno Art Week at FFA, 7–13 April 2025

We would like to cordially invite you to a series of events and exhibitions that will be part of this year's festival Brno Art Week, which will take place from 7 to 13 April 2025.

Events:
Developing camera films in Jobotéka Diskotéka
7–11 April 2025, 13:00–17:00
Hlaváčova 20, Brno –2nd floor of the building Orlovna-Obřany
Come to the photo lab with your own film, which you can develop for free with our help. We will show you how it all works and we will also introduce you to the operation of a small photo lab. The developing process takes approximately one hour. You can take your developed film with you or leave it in the photo lab for scanning (price according to the current price list).

Rello, Rybářská 13, Brno
Screening.13 is a music-projection series taking place exclusively in the Rello space at Rybářská 13.The aim is to create and strengthen Brno communities interested in audiovisual culture, offering them a curated selection of contemporary moving image, often with an overlap into music/sound. The screening evenings are dramaturgically led not only internally, but also by invited curators or collectives.

Open Painting Studio 1 at FFA
9 April 2025, 13:00–18:00
FFA BUT (building U4, 5th floor)
From 13:00 to 18:00 it will be possible to visit the Painting Studio 1 at the Faculty of Fine Arts BUT, to see the work of the students and to watch the work process. Applicants can consult their work with the studio tutors or students.

Galerie FaVU, Údolní 53, Brno
Ville Karlsson and Tuomas Lehtomaa work with site- and situation-specific, sculptural, painterly, textual practices. The exhibition in Favu takes form in-site, through negotiations and approaches with the place. This process-based practice is reliant with the possibilities and limitations of the distance, transition, familiar and the unknown. The guided tour will be led by Jan Bražina and Marie Vařeková.

Poetry reading by Tina Štěrbová

Poetry that wanders, moves and searches. Tina Štěrbová's poetry reading will bring you an evening full of words that break between tenderness and rawness, between everyday and restlessness. A natural rhythm of thoughts, images that get under the skin, and a space for those who seek echoes of their own words in the silence. This informal gathering will offer poems about the unattainable home and the moments that crumble under our hands. Come hear how text becomes voice.

Performance by Adam Michálek

Adam Michálek's performance entitled "Adam Michálek's Performance" is a commented walk with social commentary on how Adam Michálek sees things. Architectural interpretation, commentary on clothing and its meaning, the smell of shops and why they are used. Noise in the streets, public lighting not properly designed. Anyone can be Adam Michálek. Adam Michálek will appear in person.

Start in front of the entrance to the hall at the Main train station
A guided walk along a part of the educational route dedicated to spontaneous gardening in Brno. The walk will take about 4 hours and will be led by artist, educator and environmental activist Barbora Lungová. The main organizer of the event is Galerie Art.

David Mackovič a Barbora Mikulová: obr-obř
7–11 April 2025, 13:00–17:00
Hlaváčova 20, Brno – 2nd floor of the building Orlovna-Obřany
In the collaboration of David Mackovič and Barbara Mikulová, a visual dialogue is created revealing the unclear origin of the name of the city district of Brno - Obřany, which may have been derived from the word Giant ("obr") or giant ("obří"). The dialogue discusses the possibility of the ancient occurrence of giants in the district, dealing with their appearance, character or activity. The exhibition is participatory. Visitors have the opportunity to create their own image of the Giant to accompany the exhibition.

Ville Karlsson, Tuomas Lehtomaa: luggage, wish
12 March. – 23 April 2025

Kristýna Gajdošová, Barbora Ilič: Enter the Collective
9 April – 24 May 2025
Galerie TIC, Radnická 4, Brno
Through four archetypal figures of the art world, the exhibition's author creates a multi-layered narrative that reflects the paradoxical tendencies and consequences of operating within the so-called world of art. The project intersects the doctoral research of the artists, who are both researchers and the subjects of their own investigations. The main organizer is Galerie TIC, more information here.

Markéta Krtek: Seer, Martyrs & Hybrid
9 April – 24 May 2025
Galerie TIC, Radnická 4, Brno
The main character in Seer, Martyrs & Hybrid Carl is a psychic who hates himself for it. Yet he uses his powers to keepthem under control, but only for profit. During one sean ce to find the spirit of his client's relative, he meets three elephant souls. The main organizer is Galerie TIC, more information here.

The individual events will take place under the dramaturgical and production guidance of students, teachers of the FFA BUT, or other institutions.
