Brno University of Technology obtains institutional accreditation in the area of education ‘Art’
Institutional accreditation entitles BUT to approve its own study programmes and thus to respond more effectively to the needs of practice and the labour market. Thanks to a successful joint application by the Faculty of Fine Arts BUT and the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, BUT has also obtained institutional accreditation in the area of education ‘Art’. The Council of the National Accreditation Bureau decided on the extension at its session at the turn of January and February 2021; the decision came into legal force on 20 February 2021 and is valid for ten years for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral study programmes.
In 2019, BUT became the first technical university in the Czech Republic to obtain institutional accreditation, initially in seven areas of education: Electrical Engineering, Energy, Chemistry, Informatics, Civil Engineering, Economics, and Mechanical Engineering, Technology and Materials. The area of education ‘Architecture and Urbanism’ was added subsequently, followed by the area of education ‘Art’, enabling more flexible preparation and modification of study programmes at the Faculty of Fine Arts BUT.
